The 100 Season 4 Episode 10 Review: Die All, Die Merrily

4 May 2017 1:25 AM, PDT

I unofficially titled my review of The 100 Season 4 Episode 10 "The Bunker Games" because, well, that was exactly what it was – The 100's very own version of the Hunger Games.

But if anything, the conclave's stakes were much higher than the organized slaughter of the beloved Ya series. After all, humanity's very existence was on the line.

And it got bloody, quick.

View Slideshow: The 100 Photos from "Die All, Die Merrily"

The rules of the game were pretty straightforward (never mind the fact that holding this silly conclave days before the apocalypse was illogical and a pretty huge waste of time).

Each of the 13 warriors (one from each clan) wore their clan's sigil on a dog tag around their neck. One by one, they killed each other, with the victor collecting every other clan's dog tag. That victor's clan got to use the bunker and survive the apocalypse.

Fargo Season 3 Episode 3 Review: The Law of Non-Contradiction

4 May 2017 1:09 AM, PDT

For an hour that so drastically limited the focus to one single storyline, Fargo Season 3 Episode 3 was a remarkably compelling installment of the series.

"The Law of Non-Contradiction" found Gloria Burgle leaving behind the Minnesota chill for sunny California to investigate her murdered stepdad's secret past. It also provided an incredible showcase for the unbelievably talented Carrie Coon.

The action was split between flashback sequences to Thaddeus Mobley in California in 1975 and Gloria Burgle essentially retracing his steps 35 years later.

In my review of Fargo Season 3 Episode 2, I wasn't fully clear on whether Ennis was definitely Thaddeus Mobley, but that was cleared up quickly.

Ennis was once an award-winning sci-fi writer on the verge of the big time, but a series of bad choices (and a whole lot of cocaine) derailed his life and his career, sending him into a life of drunken curmodgeonliness in Minnesota.

The flashbacks revealed that »

Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 19 Review: Misalliance

3 May 2017 9:51 PM, PDT

Well, I didn't see that coming; did you?

There were plenty of surprises on Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 19, as the hour kept the action and politics in perfect balance.

But who cares about the politics when That happened to Jason?!

Hannah was transferred from a van to a semi and then to someplace even worse. Where she's going is anyone's guess, but I'm going to venture she's headed towards Canada, the same place as President Kirkman.

My question is why Lloyd and company would throw her on a cargo ship when they could just as easily killed her? Why keep her alive? Are they going to use her as bait of some kind?

Hannah showed us once again what a badass she was when she not only convinced her guard to loosen up her chains but used the underwire part of her bra to break out of the chains. That's »

Chicago Pd Season 4 Episode 21 Review: Fagin

3 May 2017 9:34 PM, PDT

Well, that was an interesting, ahem, twist on the classic story of Oliver.

Instead of orphans being taught to pickpocket, a group of impressionable teens was cajoled into the far more serious crime of bank robbery.

Chicago Pd Season 4 Episode 21 brought us a devastating, troubling story. It's one that will be sticking with Lindsay for awhile.

A man that uses children to do his dirty work is down there with the lowest of the lows.

Spann got out of prison on parole; he won his lawsuit, why couldn't he just leave well enough alone?

That whole "those who can't do, teach" mentality does not need to apply to crippled men who can no longer rob banks. See, that's when most criminals would probably think about retirement.

But no, instead, those poor kids got dragged down with him, and a few of them lost their lives because of it.

Law & Order: Svu Season 18 Episode 17 Review: Real Fake News

3 May 2017 9:26 PM, PDT

The era of fake news is scary.

Law & Order: Svu Season 18 Episode 17 showed exactly how terrifying it is when people refuse to stop believing something despite a ton of evidence disproving it.

Lives were ruined, and a Congressman ended up dead, all because of lies disguised as journalism.

It was lucky for the victims of a real sex trafficking ring that Svu was able to find and rescue them, but that still doesn't make up for all the damage EndlessTruth.com, and its constant barrage of fake news did.

One of the scariest – and most effective – moments came near the beginning of the hour, right after Svu caught a gunman about to open fire in the crowded restaurant.

Svu thought the case was closed when Mr. Lee showed the gunman that his "basement full of underage girls" was only a broom closet and Fin proved that there were no false walls in the closet. »

Underground Season 2 Episode 9 Review: Citizen

3 May 2017 9:14 PM, PDT

What is going to happen?

It was about halfway through what felt like a long hour, that it hit me that Underground Season 2 Episode 9 is the penultimate installment of the season.

It was good, don’t get me wrong, but I did zone out a few times as I pondered the overall plot of the season and what has taken place.

Episode by episode, there have been fantastic moments. I can’t emphasize that enough. Looking back on the season with the sudden realization that it’s at the end mark, however, has me wondering just what have we gotten out of it all?

What have we been building up to? In the grand scale of things, the larger picture has been the buildup to the inevitable Civil War. On a smaller scale, what do we have? Rosalee finally reuniting with Ernestine? A Patty Cannon and Harriet Tubman face off? »

Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 21 Review: Green Light

3 May 2017 8:31 PM, PDT

Ok, high marks to the viewers who saw this twist coming.

Mr. Scratch has been a red herring all season. Instead, it was revealed that Cat Adams was behind Reid's troubles on Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 21.

And finally, finally, finally Reid was freed from prison.

But he's hardly free.

That's because mini-psycho Lindsey Vaughn kidnapped his mother Diana and disappeared.

Poor Reid! Even his own teammates thought he was delusional.

Of course, that's because he has been quite delusional ever since his arrest. What's real? What's caused by the drugs in his system, and what's caused by his jumbled memories? Who can say?

So when Reid asked for Prentiss' help, claiming that some obscure unsub from a decade ago had abducted his mother, of course, she was a little skeptical.

Just like all the viewers who were thinking, "That's the big payoff? I barely remember her."

Now puzzle me this: »

Empire Season 3 Episode 15 Review: Civil Hands Unclean

3 May 2017 8:29 PM, PDT

Despite their nearly nonstop tangling with each other, it looks as though the Lyons have finally united as a family – and none too soon.

Under siege by another family with ties almost as intense as theirs, the Lyons will need to fight for each other if they are all to survive.

On Empire Season 3 Episode 15, which was Not the season finale (despite my previous insistence that Empire Season 3 Episode 14 was the penultimate episode of the season – I was misinformed, my bad), the Lyons attempted to make peace.

First, they tried to make peace with the Dubois family, despite Cookie's insistence that Diana wouldn't stop until she destroyed them all.

Now, when my family decides to shoot, your whole entire family will burn to the ground.
